We started our first real day bright and early. After having our breakfast at the Oasis (on my welcome to bali post) we were fetched by our driver du jour.....Dewa! For 350,000 rupiah, you can have driver service for a full day....not a bad deal ei? We found driver Dewa over the internet and communicated with him via e-mail and upon reaching Bali...via mobile. We fetched our friends Gwen and Lyn who were staying at the Conrad hotel and went to UBUD!!!! As per Christine's (Ramblings of a Gypsy Soul) advice..."Jen, you have to visit UBUD" So here goes Nens!
Ubud is a 2 hour drive from Nusa Dua...so from Kuta to Nusa Dua, it's like 15-20mins then two hour to Ubud....so you can guess by the time we got there it was time for.....you got it LUNCH!!! =)
We chose Bebek Bengil ...the Dirty Duck Diner. The specialty?---whatelse....crispy deep-fried duck, that is not so oily (as the book says..hehehehe) We have double recommendations for this place, one from Mr. Frommer and from our good driver Dewa.
The place was big and lovely! Lotus ponds all over and you sit on gazebo like areas, on pillows...so you sorta like sit cross-legged sans shoes or flip flops =) The entire resto is alfresco. Sooo cool!
Crispy Squash Flowers
It's as good as it looks! Tasted like kakaiage =)Ubud is a 2 hour drive from Nusa Dua...so from Kuta to Nusa Dua, it's like 15-20mins then two hour to Ubud....so you can guess by the time we got there it was time for.....you got it LUNCH!!! =)

The Crispy Fried Duck
This is the house specialty and true to it reputation.....super crisp duck and it was not that oily...not oily at all =) Yummmmy. We only shared an order to be kind to our health! heheheh ;PThe mixed appetizer platter
It was comprised of Ayam Satay, Fried Tofu, Kropeck and Spring Rolls. We enjoyed trying various Balinese apps. To add to the fun, you get to try them on various dipping sauces...which mostly were HOT!!!
The Nasi Campur
Nasi means rice and I guess Campur means a mish-mash of meat dishes, because this is what it was. Rice surroundeed by Crab Cakes, Chicken Curry, Veggies, Nuts, Kropeck and that piece of skewered meat (like chicken). We liked the assorment of food on this dish...makes it fun to eat and share.
We bummped into this lady carrying this....
